Oh dearrrrr, I knew that I would neglect my blog after a while! It has been over 7 months since my last entry hahaha at times like this I usually shake my head and tell myself, "Evy....u suck" boooooooo =( Now this entry will be gigantic and out-of-this-world and will be the best read that anyone has ever set their eyes on! *pressure's on* here goes....
Mmmm...I can't remember where I last left off...somewhere in January...bleh...I'll just start with a rundown of my trip in February =D Don't worry, it'll be brief-ish. Ok, so now, officially, here goes...
February Holidaaaaaaay to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand:I remember not being very excited for this trip because I was going to be away from dorky for a whole month, considering we spend a lot of time together, it was a big deal for us. In fact, it was sooooo hard to accept that I was going away and leaving him that we both broke down crying the night before I left. He didn't go to the airport for the fear of crying in front of my parents (hehehe) but I knew that I would have definitely cried too. Anyway, we flew via Tiger Airways....omg, worst flight I have ever been on. It was sooooo crampt and I didn't sleep, which meant drugged up looking eyes in the morning! Landed in Singapore at the BUDGET terminal, hahaha I couldn't stop laughing and at the same time felt a little bit embarrassed (omg it's budget...BUDGET!! ok I'm over it). My laughter faded away when we were informed that check-in time for our crappy hotel was at 1pm (present time was 3am), we were literally homeless! Not a great start to the holiday and I felt like going back home to dorky already. We roamed around Singapore aimlessly, saw some homeless people, smelt some smelly rubbish in Chinatown, ate at Maccas and did that 4 times before anything was actually opened. When we finally checked in...I think I slept for the rest of the day. This part of my holiday, I remember the most, the rest of it...a little bit of a blur!
We were in Singapore for a couple of days, we visited Jurong Bird Park, which was so cool! Birds are so intelligent, if someone ever called me a "Birdbrain", i would so not be offended. The shows there were so amazing and I have a new found love for flamingoes and toucans =) I bought a parrot as a little souvenir too, I'll post him up one day, birds rock. While we were in Sg, my funny and hungry mum had a mission, to find all these food stalls that had been recommended to her...by a newspaper article, which she carried around with her passport. We managed to find most of the food stalls too! I don't think I bought very much in Sg, think I was trying to save my money for Malaysia!
Next destination: Malaysia!
We were in Msia for chinese new year...family reunion. My eldest brother also flew over for 4 days to join us! CNY was so much fun, because for once, we were given a car by my uncle to drive around in. Whever I go back to Malaysia, there is always gossip circling around my extended family, so I always eavesdrop. The news this time? A big one...my cousin was very very depressed because her husband had left her and her 2 year old daughter alone and accused her of cheating on him. I heard that my aunty had chased him around with a sharp weapon for such accusations, so he fled. Throughout our stay in Malaysia, my cousin received many phonecalls from her husband and not having very much money, she asked my parents if she could come back to Perth with us and stay while she looked for a job. She just wanted to escape. So our holiday had really turned into something else...wouldn't say it was entirely enjoyable. On a more enlightening note....we travelled to Malacca, KL, JB, Cameron Highlands, Genting Highlands and all sorts of places i had never been before and collected many many angpaus =D
Spontaneously, my mum decided that we go to Thailand too! so we organised plane tickets and joined a tour group to Bangkok and Pattaya! I was sooooo excited! But...got really sick the day we flew there...i had bad bad bad diarrhoea and had to live on the toilet...felt like i was peeing but not?. I was sooooo weak and pale. On the first day in Thailand...i stayed in the hotel room all day because i couldn't leave the toilet...i missed out on a days worth of food. So sad...the next day i was a bit better...ate congee, the fresh and instant type and couldn't help it...i had to drink tomyum soup...which came out of me anyway, but at least i tasted! Bangkok was cool but traffic was terrible. We also saw a lot of animals and touched them...i think they were a bit cruel though, but as a tourist i was kind of blinded by that fact and paid to take pictures with tigers and elephants. ToukTouks were funny, they kept bringing us to jewelery store when we just wanted to go back to our hotels. The other place we went to was Pattaya and it was the funniest place i have ever been. A lot of prostitutes and tranvestites!! As part of our tour package we were taken to 3 shows. The 1st one, we saw a lot of men parading around with their jnr's doing tricks like playing golf with their jnr's and playing drums (jnr=private bits, kinda looks like a sausage). omg i was with my parents ahaha. Next one was a women's one, saw a lot of singaporean students there perving on the naked girls (nottinotti) and the last one...was like a talent show where girls used their privates to do tricks like blow whistles, doing things with pingpong balls, mice and goldfish (yeah use your dirty imagination). Scarred for life after going there! The mango sticky rice was deliciousssssss!!
After thailand we went back to malaysia and more drama, my cousin couldn't come over to Perth with us because there was an issue with her passport but, my other cousin wanted to come with us instead and so he did. Spent our last night in Singapore with people we didn't know but managed to buy more things to put in my luggage. When we were at check-in at the airport we had way too much luggage, like 60kg over so we had to start throwing things into the bin, like our towels and DVD cases...my mum was going ape at us all yelling in the middle of the airport, that was so embarrassing...eeps.
Yey! reached Perth at last and met up with dorky, charlie and the "other girl" (chenelle). We ate at uncle billy's...3 egg congee!!! i missed perth =)
My ATP experience! My last prac! woohoo...can't believe I made it this far. The most important part of this year for me was this 10 week teaching block. I was so so so so nervous about everything; the parents, principal, naughty kids, other teachers, my supervisor and the fact that i had to go to this school for 100 days...so daunting.
The first theme that i planned was on "outer space" and i was really excited about it. Most of the kids were clueless....knew nothing at all. Some of the things we did was making rockets, galaxies, learning about telescopes, made constellations, the sun, stars, the solar system and heaps more. I was so surprised at how the kids progressed...and so many of their parents came up to m e and kept telling me how much they had learnt....too overwhelming. It's too weird getting all this credit from people you don't really know. i don't take compliments very well, i usually turn them into some kind of negative... hahah i'm a loser.
Second theme, "community and community helpers". Omg, i had so much fun with this because the parents helped out a lot. i felt that i hardly taught hahaha. The best part was when one of the parents brought in police cars, police horses, motorbikes and a helicoptor for the kids to see. I also organised for firefighters, doctors, physios, army officers and truck drivers to come in to talk to the kids...they loved it...i loved it! Just this prac has made me really committed into wanting to be a teacher because i realised that so much can be achieved. i couldn't have done any of it alone though...thanx to my teachers, family, friends and dorky who supported me throughout this great experience!
My 21st!
Arghhh!! my 21st birthday...it seems like such a blurry memory now. I remember i took the day off prac just prepare for it and found that there was still soooo much to do for my party. I remember putting up decorations and organising a playlist of music then next thing you first guest arrived....PANIC! i'm pretty sure i was panicky throughout the night...i so hate being the host! but i had heaps of help from my parents, friends and dorky...so thanx once again guys! my celebration would have been nothing without uuuuuu *muacks*
From my poor memory...we had a lion dance performance by Chung Wah...i kept it a secret from everyone and i hope it was a big surprise...a bit weird to have a liondance performance for a birthday...makes me feel uber important hehehe. i had to invite all my neighbours because i was scared that they may have complained about the noise, but i was so surprised to see all of them at the front of my house and climbing our trees! ahaha. i think that was one of the highlights of my party (thanx dorky and kwun and the troup for organising everything!).
Something that was really touching were the videos that ama and jas and dorky made for me...i loved them so much and ill cherish them, always...love u guys!
the only thing that i kind of regret from that night...was being way too stressed to even enjoy the food (which btw my mum saved a heap of so that we could eat the next day...omg so yummy). next time...remind me to de-stress and just enjoy =) i had fun nonetheless..after i had calmed down...2 days later. one thing that i am glad of...is that so many people came to help me celebrate...my friends...my family....my life, my wonder and my thoughts =)
ooh oooh...the next night i spontaneously asked some friends out to eat at Cora korean bbq....omgosh yummmm...so much meaty goodness and the fried noodles...i will dream and drool about them in my dreams for life eheh. this was where jas met her hot (but very the old-looking) korean guy, with the boofy hair. If you ever do eat there one night...ask for his number for jas...she likes him plenty ehehe! yumyum bbq! after that we went to good ol' iceyice, where i had my 1st crunchy nut experience...and boy was it nuttylicious! great food and great company...thanx for the best bday weekend hehe!
Sydney weekend away!
