Yes, this year is definitely flying by fast. This weekend has flown even faster, especially with the arrival of daylight saving! So sad...I wish the year would slow down just a little bit...
Anyways, my weekend started on Saturday. I spent the morning planning a lesson for my student, which was quite enjoyable...I just love the early childhood years =) I went to bf's house to tutor for around an hour. Alice has really progressed since the first time I worked with her. She's really opened up to me a lot more and is speaking to me in English and understanding the things I say, which is great...and I guess I'm also learning Chinese in return ahah. The good thing is that she's enjoying the lessons, which is a relief...but what I really want her to do is to use English more at school and according to her mum, it seems she's still a bit hesitant in doing that. It's a challenge to get her to communicate, but I'm quite determined to help her...I'll work hard on it =)
After tutoring, bf, Alice and me watched some Playhouse Disney cartoons...it's been ages since I've watched a cartoon and things have just changed too much. Cartoons are all 3D now and it kind of sucks...the novelty of cartoons just isn't there anymore...maybe I'm just growing up and have lost that appeal in cartoons? Or...maybe not =P Anyway afterwards, Bf brought me home to get ready for Mel's engagement party. I had a really hard time deciding what to wear...I even dreamt about what I would wear the night before...I just need to update my wardrobe badly. Only problem is...I can't bear to get rid of old clothes because I keep thinking that one day I might want to wear them again. It's like that with everything too...I really need to learn to let go of things. Anyway, I settled on a black top and dress with a necklace...kept it simple and safe =P The party was held at the Flag and Whistle Hotel at Fremantle in what I was told a pretty dodgy looking area...haha whoever told me that wasn't wrong. There were abandoned buildings and ships surrounding the place, but the venue itself was quite quaint. Mel had hired the whole place out and decorated with balloons that were the colours that I had suggested haha! Mel looked so pretty, I loved her long curly hair...so envious! She was soooo tanned as well. All of her friends resembled her, tall with long hair...I felt so out of place. It was pretty awkward when Bf and me arrived, we were the only ones there from work and also the only two Asians. Naturally we kind of hid away and snacked on food and there was also free alcohol all night and I suppose I made use of that treat =) Soon, people from work turned up and as a group we overtook the couches and chatted away. It's so strange to see my boss dressed up...it's almost..scary...she also kept giving orders to the girls to get her food...so funny. Bf's work friend was also at the party, so he had someone else besides me to talk to for a while...just shows how small Perth actually is...his friend was a champion sausage dog breeder and also had a cute and tubby son who drooled alot...he was rather entertaining for a while. Time went fast as we were enjoying ourselves more but Bf and me left the party without any cake because we hadn't eaten dinner but it was all good, we went to Sandrinos at 9:30 and had chilli mussels, seafood risotto and also crab linguini...dinner was well worth the wait. Stuffed and bloated, sleepily, we drove back home and I slept like a great big pig =)
Today, I woke up early (not just because it was daylight savings) and just enjoyed the morning...something I haven't done in a while. I even went outside and admired my mum's vegetable patch, even though she was growing bitter gourd...yuck. Early morning soon turned into late morning and next thing I knew bf picked me up and we headed into Northbridge for DIMSUM! We saw Eva, her bf and cousin along the way...they were having dimsum too ehehe. We went to Dragon Palace and the line outside was huge! We got a table straightaway though, which doesn't happen often....but yey! The food was really good and I think we over-ordered too...had to force ourselves to eat...bf ate 6 or 7 har gaos...wat a pig. After that we walked slowly towards the mall, but along the way we stopped to look at some display outside the art gallery, which had really amazing prints that had been taken of places around the world...it was really nice. The mall was packed with people when we got there, so I had to do a lot of direction changing and dodging...good for improving awareness and reaction! We browsed alot of shops, but didn't buy much...failfailfail! But one good thing, we finally completed the task of buying our "couple rings" ahahaha...so silly, but oh so special =) We also had fun playing skill testers at our favourite toy shop and ended up spending a lot and won nothing! The toys were so cute though! I must show you guys where it is one day =) After shopping, we drove out of Perth, up north and tried a restaurant called "Katong" that sold Singaporean foods. The place was very empty, the menu wasn't very big and seemed expensive, but once we had sat down, there really was no choice but for us to order..we ended up trying the katong laksa of course! It wasn't too bad, not the same as the one in Singapore but...I guess the only way to eat authentic Katong laksa is to go to Katong in sg! After dinner, we went back to bf's house to digest in front of the TV, where I fell asleep...nuuuu!! I'm becoming more and more piggy...must try and workout tomorrow! Oh well...at least the weekend was fun! Glad that it was an awesome w/e for bf..I just found out his Liverpool won...such a die-hard soccer fan...and congrats to your beloved Liverpool, fool! Yey! I can't wait for next weekend =)
