Wahooo this entry that I am writing now will be my 100th one for this blog! I didn't think this would last so long, but yay! I'm proud of my commitment! Let's hope it lasts at least another 100 entries more =P
Anyhooo...lots has happened in the past 2-3 weeks...let me enlighten you all with the highlights!
The school holidays started and I got more shifts at the cafe because Karla took the 2 weeks off to look after her sister. I'm going to start by writing about work because its been bugging me alot. I don't really understand my boss, Kylie...she hired a "mystery shopper" to assess the cafe and put our customer service skills to the test. This shopper person came in on a day that was not normal at all. There was a kids party going on and a group of 11 elderly people were eating in that day too, as well as the regular customers. Now, Kylie didn't put enough staff on that day so everybody had to really work twice as hard and no one had a chance to slow down. It was a hell of a day and I thought that everyone did really well despite the craziness. Anyway, Kylie received the results from the mystery shopper and immediately pointed the finger at us and advised us to give better customer service, to upsell food to all customers and to work faster...woah...no one was happy about that at all. She sent us the review she got and we read it...funny thing is, the mystery shopper complained mostly about the physical appearance of the cafe more than the skills of the staff. If Kylie had expectations for us all then I really think that she should have made the effort to call a staff meeting and let us know what she wanted, but see...Kylie doesn't know what she wants, she's very inconsistent and there's a whole lot of other stuff she does that makes us question her leadership...sigh. Because of all the crap she put us through, Hayley decided to leave and I think a few other girls have left too...wonder when it will be my turn! Phewwww - OK got that off my chest!
Anyway! On a Tuesday, I went to carousel with my mum! Gosh, I haven't been shopping like that with her in such a long time. It felt so good to bond =) We spent the whole day browsing and looking at puppies! We stopped during lunch time to share a large waffle from gelares...it was goooood! My mum seemed really happy that day...I guess she really does get bored being home alone =( I should take my mum out more often I think!
Wednesday night, Dorky played soccer at Lord's. He played in a competition for his friend's team...ANZ superstars? Haha. The team won and dorky scored a goal! So congrats to him =P So many people play sport at that place...makes me feel slack and slobby just watching them...argh need to get back into the gym routine I think...feeling so soft.
It was my brother's birthday on Thursday that week..so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! He's in Sydney now so we couldn't celebrate it with him, but apparently he went out with friends for dinner, which is really good for him...he needs to socialise more! Hope that he's doing well in Sydney...he comes back in December! Hope he brings presents haha!
There was also a Glory match on Friday night...it was good but I guess not as eventful as the week before...the crowd thinned out! It was still really fun though! Thanks dorky for taking me to watch =)
Saturday night! It was chicken's 21st birthday party at Tiger Lils! I was so excited for her and also excited to have a night out with everyone =D The venue was was so nice, I loved the layout of the bar..you could just relax inside and the music wasn't too bad either. Also that night, we finally got to meet Michael, officially!! He seems pretty nice and easygoing, which is good! He made the effort to talk to everyone and he matched Jas...it was like they were going to a ball together..chicken looked so lovely in her pink 'tail' dress =) We all had a good catchup and we got to see people we hadn't seen in a long time...some people just don't change and well...others, just make gatherings awkward sometimes haha! Jas's cake was so pretty and tasted good, all made by friends! Such talented cake makers =P There weren't any speeches because it was just too loud for anyone to hear them, but it's OK, I'm sure jas got a lot of heart-felt messages from everyone =P Soon it was time to head to metros! Haha, metros was very metro-ey..the floors were still sticky and gross, but the crowd was a lot younger there...new generation I guess! It was fun! We all danced until our legs hurt, well mine did anyway then it was off to Uncle Billy's because we were all starving =D Ordered quite a bit of food...loved the congee as always and also the ee-fu? noodles yummm! Thanks to Michael for treating us too...so nice of him! After supper we all went our separate ways...ama and me followed jas back to her place for a sleep over! We went through Jas's presents some were cool and others were interesting ahah! I think we ended up sleeping at around 4am or 5am...I just know that the sun was due to come up really soon. Ama and me then got up and left before 12! Had a great night and I hope chicken did too!
I also had relief teaching for 2 days during the second week. I didn't expect to get any jobs because school had only just started again! I was so excited as well because I was also asked to relief full time for November...4 weeks of teaching! Hooray hooray. Anyway the 2 days that I taught were really good, I felt prepared for everything, stayed alert and got along with the kids! Can't wait to teach them all in November...let's see if they still like me then haha!
After teaching on Friday night, Eva asked us to go bowling, but I think she messaged me the night before when I was already half asleep. I remember reading the message the night before but fell asleep before I could reply! I woke up the next day and completely forgot about it until she messaged again..oops! Sorry Eva! I couldn't make it because dorky and me had dinner plans! Before dinner though, we made a quick stop to Curtin's Pasar Malam...omgosh we almost missed it!! If I hadn't hopped onto Facebook before leaving, we wouldn't have even known about it...it was something that I wanted to go to all year! So phew! We missed the UWA Spring Feast though...such a bummer =( Oh well...NEXT YEAR WE WILL MAKE BOTH! haha. The PM at curtin was alright, saw a few people we knew there as well as people i didn't know but had seen pictures of =P The lines for everything were mega long...it was such a headache to wait for food, luckily we could people watch our way to pass time. Bought a ramly burger, food on sticks, prawn noodle soup and a couple of drinks? Chatted to Jenny and David too (we keepp bumping into them), I found out Jenny got into a car accident and grazed her face..poor girl, I'm just happy she's alright =) We need to catch up more I think! Anyway after that we headed off!
That weekend was a really hot one i think? Dorky me decided to make the most of the weather so we headed down to Freo for lunch. We went to a pizza place, forgot the name and ordered chilli mussels and 2 pastas. Omgosh, that place has gigantic servings! We couldn't even finish our meals! The food itself was alright, not spectacular, but value for money =) So if you are super hungry go there...I'll try and remember the name of it later hehe! We also had an icecream, a blood orange and passionfruit sorbet, so yum on a hot a day! Anyway that night it was Gerri's 21st, but I didn't end up going so I hope Gerri had a great time and happy birthday!! The theme was pretty cool though, a rubiks party! The photos looked good =)
On Sunday, dorky and me went shopping in the city! We both needed to update our closets a bit...quite badly actually! So we looked at clothes most of the time and bought a few items =) We ate HJ's for lunch, I had a kids club meal because they had spongebob toys!!!! I got a Patrick floater, hehe so cute, but does absolutely nothing, just like Patrick himself hehe! Anyway after the city we went home and got ready for a wedding dinner at Jade. I had no idea what to wear and I didn't know the wedded couple...so I just wore a dress haha! There were a lot of China guests, but I learnt they were mostly high profile persons in Perth, but I recognised none =P There were 11 courses to the dinner, with all the good stuff chinese people love. I got full after the 5th or 6th dish. Our table wasn't filled up so we had extra helpings...bad idea! Dorky bought me a rose fromt he rose guy, for no reason at all...aw thankyou to my lovely bf...muahs! I was also ushered to the front of the stage, along with other girls to catch the bouquet...eeps! When it was thrown I stepped further away haha! They also wanted to interview us, I think to market us off lol, but us girls were too shy and hid haha...go us! Dorky saved me from getting pulled away by a man (his dad) lol! It was really funny =) All the ladies were given presents and I even got to keep the flower arrangement from our table as a prize hehe. So many freebies...but thankyou so much for inviting me....had a wonderful time!
Monday and Wednesday I had work at the cafe. Same old same old happened...everyone keeps getting frustrated at my boss. We never have enough change in the till and we always end up giving customers change in 5 cent forms...so bad! Poor customers. Also a ham sandwich was $4 before, now it's $7 what a complete rip! Please don't eat at my cafe haha! Unless I serve you and pretend you don't know me =P I don't know what she's doing....
Wednesday afternoon, I went to my relief school and had a meeting with the teacher there. Looks like I have a lot of work to get through with the pre-primaries. I have to help coordinate and run an assembly item, help transition the kids into year one, juggle around 3 teacher's assistants, 2 autistic children, deal with only half a playground for the kids to play in because the kindy is getting ripped apart and built somplace else and also teach the usual things...eeps! I hope I get everything done ok...I'll be busy, but I'm excited too hehe!
So yup, I think that is all for now...will update more if I can think of anything else! Toodles for now =D
