Ah...I have been feeling the great aftermath of Christmas...tiredness and that I cbb feeling. There was the delayed Christmas hype, followed by xmas day, which was rather quiet, I must admit and then the mad shopping rush began on Boxing Day. I wouldn't say this year's Christmas was a let down, but rather, I didn't get a chance to fully enjoy it because it came and went with a blink of the eye...but for the record, here's what I got up to during the Christmas week =)
On Tuesday night we had dinner at Outback Jack's for Andre's obsession over kangaroo meat, so that's what he got. I tried the grilled fish, which wasn't bad and dorky ordered some kind of steak and added a sausage to his meal, haha (we shall get to another sausage story later =P). Reuben also tried the Jack's 1kg steak challenge lol! I had never seen anyone attempt it before so I was excited, as was everyone else on the table. They used a cow bell to announce it to everyone..funny! After 30 minutes, Reuben was still trying to eat his steak and hadn't touched his massive bowl of vegetables or wedges...oh well, good effort for a Singaporean haha! After dinner we had our karaoke session at Utopia...hadn't been to the NB one in ages and I think that they really need to rennovate! We got bbt from easyway, because it's so much better and then it was singing time! I sang quietly to myself as usual, just the way I like it =P I remember I was very sleepy by the time I got home.
On Wednesday night, dorky and me started our celebrations for Christmas a few days early by going to Miss Mauds for the pre-xmas buffet dinner. We were so excited!!! I love buffets =D We started off with the best soups, especially the beef stock...his favourite! We stuffed ourselves with salads (got my beetroot fix), seafoods of all kinds (oysters, yum!) and hot foods like turkey and ham =) The desserts were awesome too...I cans till remember the wonderful carrot cake that we had, yummers! After our buffet we decided to make the most of our night out and watched the movie Paranormal Activity. My expectations of the movie wasn't so great from what I had heard from others who had watched it and the reviews that I had read. But, we watched it anyway...I have to say I was really quite freaked out by it! I know dorky couldn't watch the bedroom scenes at all! I don't know why it was so scary, maybe because there were hardly any people in the cinema? Haha but really that night, I had real trouble getting to sleep...kind of kept thinking I was going to get dragged out of bed by the foot =(
Had work on xmas eve. I tought that the day might be pretty cruisey, but I was very wrong. People of all kinds came in and we worked our butt's off...people should just stay home on xmas eve. We didn;t really have the xmassy feel at work either, no one dressed in xmas colours as they did in the past and no presents were exchanged...it was a bit sad. Oh well, I guess I don't really blame Rach for not being in the festive mood, her business was just shoved back at her...poor Rach. Anyway after work I went to woolies and bought a range of groceries for the night's dinner =) Since my parents had a xmas party to attend, I thought that dorky and me could finish off our lamb cuts that we never got to bbq for dinner! So he came over and we started cooking =) Roast vegetables with rosemary, a salad and soooooo many lamb cutlets, which by the way tasted awesome after being marinated for a week haha. We ate everything lovingly and spared 4 pieces for my dad to try too! After dinner we decided to have a look at Christmas lights around the Thornlie area. We used my trusty GPS and found the street that lit up with prettiness =D It was so nice and I guess I felt a bit of xmas cheer with so many people walking around happily with their santa's hats on...I felt that I should've brought mine along too.
CHRISTMAS DAY!!! Woke up nice and early, thanks to my mum knocking on my door to open up presents. I kind of half skipped/jogged to our xmas tree and helped my mum unwrap the pressies =D Got a whole lot of chocolates and photo-related things from my mum's church friends and tupperware! I opened all my presents that I got from my kiddies and wow, some of the stuff they gave were quite nice, like perfumes, belgian chocolates, soaps from Bali and lots of other lovely things..they're so sweet =) After the presents, I helped my parents a bit with lunch. We had turkey, ham, roast pork, prawns and roasted veges! I prepared the vegetables and picked on the ham hehe! Dorky came over just as the food was ready and together we ate heaps for 5 people. After our tummies were filled, dorky and me went to the movies and watched Avatar in 3D! It was an awesome movie and I wish that the planet Pandora really existed...it was so pretty! Watch it peoples! After the movie, went to dorky's place for dinner then just hung out and chatted heaps...such a wonderful day with my family n dorky =) Also, Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope that it was spent with your special ones and that it was filled with the cheeriness of the christmas spirit =)
Boxing day! Woke up quite late and ate christmas leftovers for breakfast haha. Went out with dorky and together we ventured into the christmas stocktake sale in the city. It was quite a mad rush there, especially Myer! Dorky was very successful with his purchases, but I failed to buy! I just can't shop when there are too many people around, it was quite stressful! We even waited in the Myer line for around 45-60 minutes, craziness! We didn't shop for long, but it felt like we had been for the whole day. I'd had enough really, so I was quite glad to move on to watching the Glory game with Alan and the two Calvins. There were so many people in our area that I didn't see the first half of the game...stupid! They scored 3 times in the first half and then at second half we found seats, yay! They scored once more then then game was over 4-0! Quite a win, I must say =) After the game we headed to Eva's house for a Leeming Christmas with friends! We played the game FRIENDS, which was quite a cool game...it half revealed our secrets, I say half because some people lied about their answers ahaha! We found out some pretty juicy stuff about it each other, one that surprised us most was that Amanda prefers length to girth when it comes to her sausages lol! And that her reason for choosing length? They fit better in the buns and the meat is more lean ahahah funny answer that got us laughing and crying for a while. After that we exchanged presents, I had Rachael as my secret santa and she had me!! Haha thanks heaps for the lovely gift hehe =) Then, after Wei2 left we played the Friends game again followed by a quick game of pictionary, which is always a fun game haha! Had a really great time with everyone, love my friends hehe =D Merry xmas to you all!
Sunday went and had dimsum at dragon palace. It was very packed and we were asked if we would like to eat upstairs, so we did! It was quite a different set up to what I had imagined. We ate on a dancefloor bar bench, sitting on barstools hahah and felt like falling from being too high up in the air. The bench was circular so we were staring at other people as we ate, it felt weird!! I guess next time we get asked to go upstairs, we shall say no thanks haha. Quite a different dimsum epxerience though! After lunchy we went shopping in the city again..it was round 2 for us! I finally bought a few things awesome, clothes mostly hehe! And I also bought a new books series called the Vampire Diaries. I know, obsessed with vampires haha, but I've been watching the series and quite liked it, so I thought it was time to read what goes on in the story =) The city, I was happy to say was much less busy thank goodness! At night, dorky and me headed to the casino! He wore his lucky red shirt and had his belly ready for me to rub. We started off with Carvers for dinner, because he had a free meal voucher, so eat until we couldn't eat no more, we did! Then we had a browse around the game floor watching people play. He changed $100 for chips and played at the roulette table...I still don't quite know how to play that game actually. But he played until most of his chips were gone and just as he was about to use them all, he placed one on the number 5 at the last second and guess what? The little ball landed on 5!! Haha, can't say that I have ever seen that happen before, but it was awesome he won bacl that $100 plus $150 more yay! Then it was my turn to play. Played on the machines and again, just as i had run out of credit I won 5 symbols thingoes in a row and doubled my money..woot! I guess it was quite a lucky night for us..must've been the rub of the belly =) Anyway, we left pretty early, before the crowd got in...phew! Had a great day out with my darling haha!
Monday, dorky and me had lunch at Bullcreek Hawkers and I got my chicken rice!! Yay! After eating we headed to Carousel and browsed the shops a little bit and I bought a necklace =) We hung around until 4pm and then went upstairs and watched Sherlock Holmes! The cinema fille dup fast because we were in such a small theatre. The movie was pretty good, it was clever and witty. I kept thinking Jude Law was Ewan McGregor though until the credits came out, whoops! Carousel also has frozen drinks now! Coke, grape fanta and raspberry fanta =D Mixing them up is tasty hehe! Movies are so much more enjoyable with a nice slushie! Anyyyyway, think that was it for Monday...we both went home and relaxed and psyched ourselves up for work =( But what a great weekend we both had...thanks so much to my dorky for everything...muahs!
Tuesday, it was back to work and it was super busy and we were down a person! I really didn't think that people would want toe at out after the long weekend, but I guess I was wrong about that! I'm just so happy I found parking! Everyone at work looked so glum, Rach thought that the reason was because we had all received crappy presents haha...no we just didn't want to be at work....At night I was picked up by wei2 at 9pm and we then picked up Eva and Jas for some Christmas light fun and photo taking! We found the famous street in Thornlie but omgosh, no one had their lights on! What a failure of an adventure haha! We slowliy made our way back home and scouted for lights around the area. We found a nice looking house and some flashing stars to pose against. I want an SLR camera now!! haha. We spent ages posing and trying to get the lighting right...it was also really windy and cold so it made Jas go crazy I think...she kept making funny sounds hahahha! After driving around somemore we gave up and went to bbt, yay! Satisfied my cravings for sago. We went through maccas as well and had an apple pie and the rumours are true, the pies really have increased to $2.25, what a rip! But I guess I'd still eat them haha! Got dropped off and then headed to bed and read more of th Vampire diaries =)
So much happened during the xmas break, but it all happened too quickly for me to really enjoy it all. I just wish time would slow down a little bit because the new year is coming up really fast and I really did not keep to my 2009 new year's resolution haha! Every year I say this...next year will be different!!! I hope that everyone had a happy and blessed year and that 2010 will bring even more joy and great times together...best of luck everyone =)
