Hiiii! It's been so long and so much has happened! I miss being able to write and share my adventures with all of you, although you must find it boring. I don't even know if anyone reads my blog anymore, but muacks if you still do!
Anyway, just a few things that have happened since my last post...
Winterbeatz! It was a pretty relaxing and fairly quiet night. Not alot of people turned up for this event, which was surprising. I thought with Neyo as the headline, there would be a lot more people attending, but I guess I was wrong. It was fun to watch acts try and involve the crowd and fail haha. Wasn't a bad night. 2 for 1 FTW!
We had a mini road trip to Mundaring for the truffle festival, which was exciting! I love road trips!! For a little town, the place was packed with people and good food. Even though it was hard to get around, with the pushing and squeezing through crowds, we were still able to get a few good bites. Pasta with truffles, moon burger with truffle butter and some rissoto ball things (they have a special name that I cbb searching up) with truffle salt. The food was a wee bit expensive, but very satisfying and different! Was a good day out and we will definitely be going back next year!
On August 8th, it was Eva's 22nd birthday at Hog's Breath! I remember that I hadn't seen anyone in ages so I was excited about the gathering and of course to celebrate with Eva and FOOD! Jas did this personality test thing on us and I learnt a few things about myself. I know what I want in a horse/guy, how I react in times of stress and also that my ego is the size of a 30cm x 30cm box haha. Better than bf's who's ego was the size of a car, gees...but so true! Anyway, food and company was awesome and what made it more awesome was getting a hog's breath discount card hehe! Hope Eva had a great birthday!
Rachael had planned to go to India for 5 weeks as part of her physio prac and wanted us to attend her fundraising dinner at Annalakshmi, next to the swan bell tower. I never knew this place existed, but it was pretty cool. They served us an authentic Indian buffet dinner, which was all vegetarian food, I think. Some of the food was good and others were spicy and interesting haha. I packed my plate with food, because I'm pretty greedy like that and I regretted it, I wasted food and I felt bad. Oh well...it seemed like a lot of people did the same. Anyway, the night was good and thanks to Rach for inviting us, hope all goes well with the rest of her course =)
On August 21st, it was election day! Prior to all this happening our former PM, K-rudd was booted out by his own party and we got Australia's first female PM, Julia Gillard, which was a total shock to everyone. There were mixed reviews about all this happening and I guess these reviews were reflected in the election results. Australia just couldn't decide who they wanted to run the country and so it was a hung parliament. In the end, after a week of negotiation the Labor party won and Julia Gillard remains as our PM, it's all written down in history now. Now I'm just waiting for that fast internet like they promised...
Jas, bf, gerri and me also participated in our first ever City to Surf! None of us trained for this event and went straight into the 12km walk. I was realllllly excited and became even more so when I saw how many people were a part of this race, there were so many that they made public transport free! Now that only happens on Australia Day! Anyway, our group was last to leave the starting line, but we were not the last to cross it, if that makes sense. We started off strong on our walk and passed by many people. I was also mesmorised by all the people and surroundings...it got a bit overwhelming and distracting when I had to concentrate on not tripping in front of so many people. For every 2km that we walked they had point checks with drinks, which I took advantage of every time! Amazingly, I didn't need to go pee once! After about over halfway I felt tired, my hands were stiff and my voice was basically gone! We continued on and finally made across the finish line at around the 2hour mark? Haha...I thought we did better than that! Oh well, we shall improve next year! We collected our medals and the disappointing thing was, we didn't get our powerade!!!! But! It was all fun =)
In the month of September it was Sara's birthday at Utopia! It was such a surprise to find out that she wanted to go there, as she is the most un-asian asian that I know! She booked out the function room and had snacks and Moet! Anyway, everyone was having a great time singing and chatting then all of a sudden the power went out and not only at Utopia, but the whole of James street was out. It was BIZARRE! Finally, something eventful happened and I was a part of it =D Everyone seemed a bit lost, but I found it fun haha. Sara didn't seem to be upset at all, I think she was just high and happy to get some money back! Hope Sara had a great time and thanks for giving us a different kind of karaoke experience!
The third term school holidays marked the arrival of the Perth Royal Show! Ahhh! I love this time of the year! I had been waiting for the show to come since it ended last year! The show this year seemed different because we actually went and browsed everything properly and tasted more things. We really took our time and before we knew it it had gotten dark! We bought 3 showbags between us, which wasn't very much, but we did buy lots of food! Sausages on sticks, lamb dinners, lamb curry, curly fries, plutopup and many others! We also bought some lavendar products...I'm in love with the lavendar lollies and the vanilla soy candle I got, gosh I sound like a granny. But anyway...I'm in a lavendar phase! Also, the fireworks were really awesome too, I got some great pictures =) After I got home, bf accompanied me to steal some lavendar from a neighbours garden, ah such a great day! Can't wait for next year!
It was Jasmine's 22nd birthday on the 1st and she had a house party! It's been ages since I attended a house type of party with people I didn't know, so it was fun to people watch! It was also good to put faces to names that I had heard jas talk so much about, it was interesting!Anyway, whilst I was doing that the broadway pizza arrived and it was my first time trying them...they were really good! Adam and his gf also cooked a yummy mushroom pasta and a tomato based one, I thought they did a good job! Jas also served us cupcakes and i also saw 2 or 3 other types of cakes and thought crap, as we had also bought 2 ice cream cakes as part of her present haha! Oh well, cakes for everyone! We also played charades haha! We were put into mixed teams, all a part of jas's plan for us to mingle I think =P The game was pretty funny! After that we chatted more a bit by bit everyone started to head home. Twas a good night Jas! Hope it was a nice break from your stressful studies!
The very next day Jas, Michael, bf and me went to Rottness! I had only been once in my life and that was when I was little and I barely remembered it and it was Jas's first time! Anyway, we met up in Fremantle and boarded the huge ferry...it was one nice boat! We hired some bikes on the ferry and after a while, before we started to get seasick we got off and collected our bike. We got acquainted with our bikes (mine was just too big for me!) and before we knew it, we were riding it to our first destination on the island...a seafood restaurant haha! We brunched on fish and chips, chilli mussels and prawns, yum! After that it was time to start our bike trek...we didn't really know where we were going, we just rode in a direction. We ended up seeing some really beautiful scenery and I had no idea Rotto was such a nice place! The best part was stopping by a beach, which had such white, soft sand and the clearest water that I had ever seen at a beach. We also visited the lodging village, a lighthouse and saw quokkas (though not very many), which were really cute, minus their rat tails, yuck! At 3:30 we had to head back to catch our ferry back home, but what a great workout for our legs and the best thing? We didn't get sunburnt yay!!
Another event that I was excited about at this time of the year was the UWA spring feast and Curtin's Pasar Malam!!! Bf and me actually researched when they were going to be held, since we missed out on last year's spring feast. Anyway, this year was THE year we were going to make both! The spring feast was super crowded, but we got to eat our beloved curry fishballs and was paid $5 to eat them hohoho. We tried something we had never seen being sold in perth before...fatty pork in a bun! yummmm! we got 3 of those and scoffed them down very fast. We also tried a hongkong styled soup, which was nice and ate some other random food too. A week later we attended the curtin pasar malam and we were surprised to see that the layout had completely changed from last years! They had stall tents set into 2 lines and a stage on one end. It was a bit like we were boxed into one area, but it was bigger! The lines to all the stalls were ridiculously long and we had to wait 30 minutes just to get food! We lined up for ramly burgers, soup noodles, rice, curry fishballs, and a really yummy indo dish, which I forgot the name. I think the lining up issue kind of ruined my excitement for the night as well as getting bitten by ants!!! but meh! All in all, I enjoyed the food and that was the main thing!
During baddy, Jen, Eva and me thought of the idea of BBQing, since the weather was getting nice! So Jen organised it a week later at "heath cove" lol! Heathcote was packed out so we moved someplace else I had never been to before, but it was still lovely and more quieter! We brought our share of BBQ goodies and started to gobble down burger patties, sausages and buns, simple but yum! Big Dan also brought his shedding, hyperactive dog, which was cute, so I had entertainment watching it. Then there was the weirdo taichi lady with her legs in the air and dog rolling around not far away. We also met Ben 10! The guys played "ballsack" haha and I played footy with dorky! Such a relaxing day and thanks Jen for organising it hehe!
Yesterday was Ama's 22nd birthday! She organised a little bbt session/catchup with us. Just like old times we gossiped, drank our bbt (thanks ama for shouting). Gave my stomach a good workout with all the laughter hehe. So nice to catch up and don't worry ama and jas...you guys will do well in your exams, soon we shall holiday and forget the stress for a while, can't wait! Happy birthday ama =)
So that's it with my main adventures, now for some upcoming events:
- Harry Potter part 1 in IMAX style!
- Trip to SG and HK in december!!!
- U2 concert with my bebe!
- Dorky's birthday!
- Christmas
- Hoping that the year 2011 will be a great one!
Now for some thoughts to end with...
So I'm finding this year to be strange, not in a good or bad way. It's just different, maybe a bit too comfortable? I feel like I am floating around, not really knowing what to do. The people around me are fast finding their feet in life and I'm jealous of that because I'm still looking. I wonder when it will be my turn. I really need a change, some excitement, a challenge and a real big push forward...it's frustrating.
Having such cruisy days feels so wrong when everyone else is either working or studying their butts off. I can't say I envy them for being all stressed and tired all the time, but I do envy how productive they are. I have been motivated to want more in life, to go out there and try my hardest and give myself options. I just hope trying hard will pay off in the end and I also hope that everyone around me who works hard gets what they deserve. Goodluck to everyone and me.
Pleeeeeease let it be my turn soon!
Just a shout out to the people in my life...they have been great. Especially you, you and you.
